S2 English homework. Exercise 9.
Synonyms and Antonyms
Copy the following note into your jotter.
Synonyms: These are words that have similar meanings such as small and tiny. No two words in English mean exactly the same thing as one eventually falls out of use. We use synonyms to give a more exact meaning of what we want to say and they make writing more interesting. The synonyms for words can be found in a thesaurus.
Antonyms: These are words that mean the opposite of each other such as big and small. Not all words have an antonym. Some antonyms are made by adding a prefix to the original word, such as like à dis like.
