Resources


The LRC is centrally situated in the Main Building, comprising the library and an adjacent computer suite. It is a whole school resource open to all staff and pupils. This resource contains over 6,500 books comprising junior, teenage and senior fiction for recreational reading and personal study, information books, reference material and careers. In addition, there are:


Newspapers- The Daily Telegraph, The Herald and the weekly Kilmarnock Standard;
Magazines such as BBC Wildlife, FourFourTwo and PlayStation2;
A collection of audio and video tapes;
CD-ROMS such as Encarta for project work
Special displays of new books and themes such as film tie-ins;
Contemporary Issues section for senior pupils;
All Scottish college and university prospectuses and most of the prospectuses from the English universities;
Careers information in general and on a wide variety of jobs;
The Staff Resource Base for information about education for teaching staff;

Adjoining the Library Resource Centre is A9 containing 20 PCs with two high-speed printers and a laser scanner. This room can be booked by any teacher for a class to undertake word processing, Excel work or for internet searching. The LRC also has 5 PCs for pupils to write essays or to search the internet. A colour printer is available.
